It is well known that the quality of printed picture images very much relies on the qualitiesof the paper and ink used. In this research we reveal that its quality can be also dependent on thecolors of the ink. We generated the same picture images of each different color C, M, Y and K tomeasure the image glosses with a commercial glossmeter. To consider the image quality variance withthe ink quantities a set of three different ink surface coverage images were printed for each color.Gloss values were very low in all cases of low ink coverages due to the overwhelming paper sufaceeffect. Even for the images of high percentage of ink coverage glosses rarely showed a meaningfuldifference in low values. However, on the images of almost fully covered with ink, we could seerelatively high values for the cyan and black images, which suggests that the image quality can bedependent on the ink colors.
